E O., 80
Year Old Woman – DRAMATIC Improvement with Miraderm®
E O first manifested pustular psoriasis on the soles of her feet and
palms of her hands in 1980. In January 2003, the patient developed a
sever Outbreak of pustular psoriasis in the perinatal region and upper
thighs. On Late March 2003, the patient underwent skin biopsy of the
affect areas. Then on late April 2003, she underwent 3 more skin biopsies
at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. The results of these biopsies confirmed
the diagnosis of pustular psoriasis.
The biopsies didn’t heal and her condition continued to worsen despite
treatment with various topical steroid creams and injections of cortisone.
On August 20/03, the biopsy sites were severely infected and skin began
falling off in pieces. The patient was admitted to hospital and received
antibiotics intravenously, discharged from the hospital on Aug. 28/03 and
given 250 mg. Novo Lexin 4 x per day for 10 days.
On Sept. 7/03, the patient received 2 more injections of cortisone. Her
skin condition continued to Deteriorate. E O then underwent treatments
with antibiotics and various topical steroid creams with little effect
until January 2004. From January 2003 to January 2004, she was unable to
sleep due to burning and itching and found relief only from cold packs and
cold water baths. In mid
January 2004,
|
E O began using the Miraderm® psoriasis cream. Itching and burning
subsided almost immediately with the application of Miraderm® and skin
began to show marked improvement after 8 weeks. Patient continued use Of Miraderm® and her skin condition improved steadily yet the biopsies
remained
unhealed. She was able to reduce application of cold packs and able to
sleep for 5 hours per nightunder the Miraderm® treatment. By July 2004,
the patient’s skin appeared normal with the exception of two biopsy sites
still healing. Miraderm® was thE ONLY medication to clear the skin and
provide relief
of burning and itching but skin would still flare up occasionally due to
the remaining biopsy lesions.
By September 2004, as the biopsy sites had not completely healed, the
patient treated with minocin antibotic 500 mg 2 times per day for biopsy
sites and Miraderm® for psoriasis. Currently, E O continues to use Miraderm®, has stopped using cold packs and is sleeping through the night
without discomfort. Her skin feels normal, with no itching or burning,
slight pink colour where lesions existed and no new lesions forming.
EO's story demonstrates how effective Miraderm® is. Miraderm® not
only controlled the symptoms of psoriasis, but also helped REBUILD the
skin structure lost from months of steroid treatments. Finally, Miraderm®
was able to function with no side effects, allowing the use Of antibiotics
to accelerate the healing of biopsy lesions. |
